You have questions. wE have answers.

At CollectionAgencyRates.com, we know that finding the right collection agency—and understanding how the process works—can raise a lot of questions. Whether you’re new to debt recovery or a seasoned business owner looking for better solutions, our FAQ section is here to provide you with clear, straightforward answers.

If you don’t see your question answered here, our team is always ready to help. Think of this as your starting point to get clarity on the collection process and how we can help recover what’s rightfully yours.

WHEN IS IT TIME TO USE A COLLECTION AGENCY?

Money that is past due must be recovered quickly with haste and intention. Failing to do so may jeopardize the likelihood of a successful collection. Just remember the number 3, if your customer is 3 times over their net terms, has not returned 3 messages, or has promised to pay 3 times without doing so, it is time to act.

WHY NOT COLLECT INTERNALLY?

While initial contact efforts will always be made in-house, failing to involve a 3rd party collection agency quickly can harm the chances of a successful collection. The longer you contact the party that owes you,

the less like they are to pay. Repetitive contact from a first party simply signals that you are unwilling to invest the necessary resources to resolve the situation. Your debtor will remain uncompliant as long as

continue to receive demands from their creditors directly.

HOW DO I GET PAID?

DCI is proud to provide our clients with the industry’s fastest remittance cycle. Payments collected between the 1st-15th are sent the following month between the 1st-5th. Payments collected between the 16th-31st are sent the following month between the 16th-20th. We can tailor our remittance processes to your specific needs in most circumstances. We also enable clients to enroll in ACH payments so that they can put the money we collect to work as quickly as possible.

WHAT IF MY DEBTOR STILL REFUSES TO PAY?

We utilize a network of hundreds of collection and litigation attorneys encompassing every jurisdiction in the United States and many worldwide. If your debtor remains non-compliant, we will provide a detailed evaluation of the claim considering the costs, merits, documentation, and collectability of the claim.

WHAT IF I ALREADY HAVE A JUDGMENT?

Our service is offered on a no-recovery no-fee basis, meaning if we do not collect the funds from your debtor, you owe us nothing. The biggest cost you will face is failing to act. The longer a debt goes uncollected, the harder it will be to collect.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCESS TAKE?

At DCI, we aim to find a swift resolution to your collection matter. Upon receipt of your claim, our agents will make their initial contact attempts and try to resolve the circumstance amicably. At the 30-day mark, we will then start evaluating the case to see if it meets the requirements to be received by our legal forwarding department.

How Our Collection Process Works

Within just 24 hours of placing an account with us, our recovery process begins in full force. We immediately send demand letters via mail, email, and any other available channels to reach the debtor. At the same time, we conduct thorough skip-tracing and investigations to secure the most accurate financial and contact information available. Our skilled collectors then get to work, making contact through phone calls, emails, text messages, faxes, and more to achieve a prompt resolution. You can expect persistent, daily contact attempts during the first 30 to 60 days to maximize recovery efforts and ensure your matter receives immediate, focused attention.

Once your case is forwarded to a local attorney within our trusted network, the legal collection process begins without delay. The receiving attorney will promptly draft the first in a series of demand letters on official law firm letterhead, requiring payment of the debt owed to you. Alongside these letters, the attorney or their staff will immediately begin direct telephone contact with the debtor to pursue resolution. If all efforts to secure payment are unsuccessful, we will provide you with a detailed letter outlining the issues in the case and our professional recommendation for the next and final step.

Our recommendation will fall into one of two categories. If, after a comprehensive investigation of the case details and the debtor’s assets, we determine that the likelihood of recovery is low, we will advise closing the case. In this instance, you will owe nothing to our firm or our affiliated attorney. If we recommend litigation, the choice to proceed will be yours. Should you decide against legal action, you may withdraw the claim at no cost, or opt to have us continue pursuing the debtor through standard collection efforts such as phone calls, emails, and faxes.
